Study Abroad Admissions
What GPA or grade do I need to study abroad?
It depends on the university, the programme, and the country — but a minimum of a Second Class Lower (2:2) is typically required for UK master's programmes, and a B average equivalent for Canadian institutions. That said, grades aren't the whole picture. A strong personal statement, solid references, and a clear purpose can compensate for a lower grade in many cases. We assess your full profile before telling you where you realistically stand.
Do I need a test score before I contact CTS Consult?
No. You can come to us at any stage — whether you haven't started preparing yet or you're ready to submit your application. If your scores need work, we'll tell you and point you to our tutorial programs. There's no perfect 'ready' moment to reach out.
How far in advance should I start the process?
Ideally 12–18 months before your intended university start date. This gives you enough time for test preparation, document gathering, application writing, and visa processing without rushing. That said, we've helped students apply successfully in as little as 3–4 months when necessary. The earlier you start, the more options you have.
Which countries do you cover?
Our primary focus is Canada and the UK — two of the most popular and accessible destinations for Nigerian students. We also support applications to the USA, Australia, and Germany. If you have a specific destination in mind, tell us in your application and we'll let you know our capacity to help.
Do you guarantee admission?
No — and you should be cautious of any consultancy that does. No one can guarantee a university's admission decision. What we guarantee is that your application will be as strong as it can possibly be, submitted correctly and on time, with the best possible personal statement and supporting materials behind it. Our 80%+ admission success rate speaks to what that level of guidance produces.
What documents do I need to start?
For your initial consultation with us, you don't need anything formal — just a general idea of your academic background, target country, and timeline. Once we begin working together, we'll give you a specific document checklist based on your target universities. Typical requirements include transcripts, a valid passport, reference letters, and test scores.

Exam Tutorials (IELTS · TOEFL · GRE · SAT)
Exam Tutorials
(IELTS · TOEFL · GRE · SAT)
How long are the tutorial programs?
Our intensive programs run 4 weeks, and our standard programs run 8 weeks. GRE and SAT preparation runs 6 weeks due to the broader content coverage required. The right duration depends on your current level and how far away your test date is — your advisor can help you decide.
Are the classes in-person or online?
Our programs are primarily in-person, held at our Lagos centre. We offer hybrid options where needed. We've found that physical classes consistently produce better score outcomes — the structure, focus, and real-time feedback make a significant difference. Online is available for students who cannot attend physically.
What score improvement can I expect?
Improvement varies by starting level, consistency of attendance, and individual effort — but our students typically see 10–20 point improvements in TOEFL and IELTS band increases of 0.5–1.5. Some students improve significantly more. We track your progress from your first diagnostic so you always know where you stand.
Do I need to book my test date before enrolling?
No. You can enroll in our program first — and we'll actually help you choose a realistic test date based on your starting level and how fast you progress. We recommend giving yourself at least 2–3 weeks after completing the program before sitting the exam.
What's included in the program fee?
All programs include tuition, course materials, practice tests, and a mock exam session before your actual test date. No hidden costs. The only additional expense is your official exam registration fee, which you pay directly to the exam body (British Council for IELTS, ETS for TOEFL/GRE, College Board for SAT).
What if I miss a class?
We have a makeup session policy for missed classes. If you can't attend a session, notify your tutor in advance and we'll arrange for you to either join another batch's session or receive the session notes and assignment. We don't want a schedule conflict to derail your preparation.

Migration Services
What's the difference between studying abroad and migrating?
Studying abroad is a pathway primarily tied to a student visa — you're entering a country to pursue an academic programme. Migration refers to relocating with the intent to live and work long-term, often through pathways like Canada's Express Entry, the UK Skilled Worker Visa, or post-study residency routes. Many students use study abroad as a strategic first step toward permanent residency.
Which countries do you support for migration?
Our primary focus is Canada and the UK, where we have the deepest expertise in immigration pathways relevant to Nigerian applicants. We advise on Express Entry and provincial nominee programs for Canada, and the Skilled Worker Visa and Graduate Route for the UK.
Do I need a job offer to migrate to Canada or the UK?
Not necessarily. Canada's Express Entry system awards points based on factors like education, work experience, age, and language proficiency — a job offer gives bonus points but is not required for many applicants. For the UK Skilled Worker visa, a job offer from an approved sponsor is required. Our advisors will assess your profile and tell you which pathway fits your situation best.
How long does the migration process take?
It depends on the pathway and the country. Canada Express Entry can take 6–12 months from invitation to permanent residency. UK visa applications typically take 8–12 weeks. There are also pre-application steps — language testing, credential recognition, document gathering — that add time. We map out a realistic timeline for you during your consultation.
Can I migrate with my family?
Yes. Most migration pathways allow you to include a spouse and dependent children in your application. There are additional documentation requirements and costs involved. We'll factor your family situation into the plan from the beginning.
